How it is calculated
Organic reach rate = reach without promotion ÷ followers × 100%. It shows what share of the existing audience saw a post with no extra spend on promotion.
On most major platforms, organic reach per follower has trended downward for years as the feed algorithm prioritizes paid content — a falling rate over time often reflects platform changes rather than content getting worse.
Because of that, organic reach is best compared against recent posts of your own and competitors' posts over the same period on the same platform — not against your own numbers from years ago, when the rules of the game were different.
