How it is calculated

Concentrate and water add up to a total number of parts: at a 1:4 ratio there are 5 parts total, and concentrate is 1/5 of the volume. Concentrate volume = volume needed × concentrate parts ÷ (concentrate parts + water parts); water is the remainder up to the volume needed.

Cost is calculated from the concentrate volume only — water carries no cost. Batch cost = concentrate volume in liters × concentrate price per liter.

Servings and cost per serving are only shown when a serving volume is entered: servings = volume needed ÷ serving volume, cost per serving = batch cost ÷ servings.
