How it is calculated

Tax amount = dividend amount × rate ÷ 100. Net payout = dividend amount − tax amount. In most jurisdictions, the paying company itself withholds dividend tax and remits it, so the recipient sees the amount already net of tax.

The dividend tax rate often differs by recipient category: residents and non-residents, individuals and entities — and for cross-border dividend payments, it can be affected by a double-taxation treaty between countries.

This calculation doesn't replace consulting an accountant for payouts to non-residents or in complex corporate structures — those rules often carry exceptions and reduced rates not accounted for here.
