Project budget calculator

Enter labor, materials and overhead costs, plus a contingency percentage. The calculator computes the subtotal, the reserve amount, and the total project budget.

How it is calculated

Subtotal = labor + materials + overhead. Reserve = subtotal × contingency percentage ÷ 100. Total budget = subtotal + reserve.

A contingency reserve is standard project-budgeting practice: it covers price increases, estimation errors and minor unplanned work, so the project doesn't run out of money midway.

If a project has several stages with separate estimates, compute the subtotal per stage and add them up — a single reserve percentage can still be applied to the combined total.
