How it is calculated
At a 1:N ratio the whole solution splits into N+1 parts, one of which is concentrate. Concentrate = volume needed ÷ (N + 1); water is the remainder up to the volume needed.
The label's dilution rate is set by the manufacturer for the active ingredient's concentration — under-dosing cuts effectiveness, over-dosing just wastes chemical and leaves residue on surfaces.
Solution cost = concentrate volume × concentrate price per liter. Cost per liter of working solution = cost ÷ volume needed — handy for comparing different products on a per-liter-of-ready-solution basis.
