Saving for a financial goal calculator

Enter the target amount, what you've already saved, and how much you set aside each month. The calculator computes how many months it takes if you simply set money aside with no investing.

Months to goal

Your inputs are stored in this browser, so everything is still here next time. Nothing is sent to a server.

This calculation is for informational purposes only and does not replace advice from a qualified professional. Formulas and rates may not fit your exact situation — double-check the figures before making decisions.

How it is calculated

Months to goal = (target amount − already saved) ÷ monthly contribution, rounded up to a whole month. This is plain cash savings — no interest, no investing.

If what's already saved meets or exceeds the goal, the result is 0 months: the goal is already reached.

If you want the saved money to also earn a return (a deposit, investments), use the financial goal calculator instead — it solves the same problem accounting for a rate of return, and usually gets there faster.
