How it is calculated
Extra contribution = max(0, annual income − threshold) × rate ÷ 100. Total contributions = fixed contribution 1 + fixed contribution 2 + extra contribution. This is based on a scheme common across many countries: a small fixed amount is paid regardless of income, and a percentage on the excess is added above a set income threshold.
The specific fixed contribution amounts and the income threshold are set by law and usually indexed or revised every year — the calculator deliberately doesn't store them as built-in values: plug in the current figures for your country and year.
The extra contribution on the excess often has an upper cap — that's not accounted for here, so at very high income the actual contribution total can come out lower than calculated due to that cap.
