How it is calculated

VAT amount = tax-exclusive amount × rate ÷ 100. Total including VAT = tax-exclusive amount + VAT amount. This is standard tax added on top of a tax-exclusive price ('net to gross').

The VAT rate isn't a universal constant — it differs between countries, and within one country there are often several rates for different categories of goods and services (standard, reduced, zero). That's why the rate here is an editable field, not a built-in value.

If instead you have an amount that already includes VAT and need to extract the tax from it, this formula won't work — use the separate VAT from a tax-inclusive amount calculator, which divides rather than multiplies.
