Budget execution calculator

Enter the budget for the period, how many months have elapsed (and the total months in the period), and the actual amount spent. The calculator computes the execution percentage, the expected spend by now on schedule, and a projection to the end of the period.

How it is calculated

Executed of budget = actually spent ÷ budget for the period × 100. Expected by now = budget × months elapsed ÷ total months — what would have been spent under an even pace.

Projection at period end = actually spent × (total months ÷ months elapsed) — a simple run-rate extrapolation of the current spending pace across the whole period.

If the projection is well above the budget, spending is running ahead of plan and the budget will be exceeded by period end at the current pace. The calculation assumes even spending within the period, which isn't always true for seasonal or project budgets.
