How it is calculated
Tax amount = gross salary × rate ÷ 100. Take-home (net) = gross salary − tax amount. This is the calculation a job posting actually implies when it lists a salary "before tax" — the amount that hits your account is smaller.
The rate is a plain editable field rather than a hardcoded default, because flat income tax rates vary widely by country and, in many places, by income bracket (progressive taxation) — there's no single number that's correct everywhere.
The calculator doesn't account for tax deductions or allowances, which reduce the taxable base and increase take-home pay in practice. For an exact figure with deductions applied, subtract them from the gross salary first and enter the already-reduced base.
