Gross to net salary calculator

Enter the pre-tax (gross) salary and the income tax rate that applies to you. The calculator works out the tax amount and what actually lands in your account (net).

Use your country's flat income tax rate — it varies a lot between countries and income brackets, so there is no single default that fits everyone

This calculation is for informational purposes only and does not replace advice from a qualified professional. Formulas and rates may not fit your exact situation — double-check the figures before making decisions.

How it is calculated

Tax amount = gross salary × rate ÷ 100. Take-home (net) = gross salary − tax amount. This is the calculation a job posting actually implies when it lists a salary "before tax" — the amount that hits your account is smaller.

The rate is a plain editable field rather than a hardcoded default, because flat income tax rates vary widely by country and, in many places, by income bracket (progressive taxation) — there's no single number that's correct everywhere.

The calculator doesn't account for tax deductions or allowances, which reduce the taxable base and increase take-home pay in practice. For an exact figure with deductions applied, subtract them from the gross salary first and enter the already-reduced base.
