How it is calculated
Benefits package cost = health insurance + meals + transport + other benefits. The calculation adds up every non-cash component of an employee's compensation paid by the company into one monthly figure, handy for comparing against salary or against benefits on other roles.
A benefits package is spend on top of salary and payroll taxes, not a replacement for them — to see the full cost of an employee to the employer, add this amount to the result of the separate employee cost calculator rather than using it instead.
Benefits package composition varies a lot between companies and industries — if you have perks not covered by the listed categories (training reimbursement, a gym membership, extra vacation days valued in money), add them to 'other benefits' so the total is complete.
