How it is calculated

40% of earnings = average monthly earnings × 0.4. This is the base formula for the under-1.5 child care benefit.

Benefit due = that result, floored at the minimum and capped at the maximum: if 40% of earnings is below the minimum, the minimum is paid; if it's above the maximum, the maximum is paid.

Both the minimum and maximum are re-indexed yearly and tied to the insurance-contribution cap — enter the figures current as of your calculation rather than relying on the default field values.
