How it is calculated
Difference = office workstation cost − remote workstation cost. Savings percent = difference ÷ office workstation cost × 100%. A positive difference means the office costs more per employee than remote work.
The comparison only accounts for direct workstation costs in money — it doesn't assess the impact on productivity, team communication or company culture, which often become as decisive a factor in choosing a work format as cost.
The actual savings for the company depend on how many employees go remote and whether rented floor space can actually be cut proportionally — if the office stays the same size while some staff go remote, there's no direct savings on rent.
