How it is calculated
Total salaries = the sum of every employee's salary in the department. Full cost of the department = total salaries × (1 + contribution rate ÷ 100) — salaries plus the social contributions the employer pays on top of pay, not withheld from it.
Department payroll is handy for budgeting and comparing the load across departments, but on its own it doesn't include bonuses, compensations, or workstation costs — those need to be added separately for the full picture of a department's cost.
The employee list can be edited — add or remove rows as the department's makeup changes. The contribution rate is a separate field rather than a built-in constant, since it depends on jurisdiction and payment category.
