Holiday work pay calculator

Enter the employee's hourly rate, hours worked on the day off or holiday, and the pay multiplier. The calculator works out the extra pay amount.

Double pay (a multiplier of 2) is common, but the exact minimum and calculation method are set by local law and internal company rules — use the multiplier that applies to you

How it is calculated

Pay = hourly rate × hours worked × pay multiplier. The multiplier shows how many times an hour on a day off or holiday is paid compared to a regular hour — typically 2, though other values appear depending on country, industry and internal rules.

This formula computes just the extra pay for the day's special status, not the employee's full monthly earnings — it's added to regular pay as a separate line.

A structurally similar but distinct case is night shift pay: there the multiplier is usually lower (typically 1.2–1.4), and the trigger is time of day rather than day type. Use a separate calculation with the applicable multiplier for that.
